Fabrics come in two categories, they are either derived from natural or manmade fibers. Synthetic or manmade materials are the consequence of far-reaching research by scientist to enhance the natural construction of plant and animal fibers. Basically synthetic fibers are made by pushing fiber forming fabrics through holes into the air, creating a thread. The four fabrics that dominate the market today are polyester, acrylic, polyolefin and nylon. They are responsible for nearly 100 percent of synthetic fiber production, with polyester taking 60 percent of that total. Natural materials are more in demand, but much more expensive as well.
